About Us

Troop 469 is sponsored by Normandale Hylands United Methodist Church in Bloomington, MN.  The troop has been active since 1967 and is now the first troop in Bloomington to have both boys and girls troops.  We are proud to have over 130 Eagle Scouts in the history of our troop.

Our troop is Scout-led with adults on hand to help encourage and guide them through each meeting and outing. 

Each Scout will join a patrol with other scouts. They will be led by a Patrol Leader along with an assistant. The patrol method of scouting allows each scout to be a part of a team to work and learn together.

The troop meetings are held on Monday nights at the church from 7:00-8:00 pm.

We are an active troop with meetings, activities and campouts every month throughout the year.  Due to the longevity of the troop, we own enough equipment to ensure a fun and safe campout for all attending.  2021 saw us acquire new tents and cooking stoves for each patrol which has broadened the Scouts cooking skills immensely.  Each scout only needs their own sleeping bag, sleeping pad, rain gear, and other personal items on campouts.

The troop fundraises only once a year.  Each fall, the Scouts will sell wreaths and popcorn. The funds we raise are used in two ways: 1) Troop Overhead, Training and Equipment expenses, and 2) Individual Scout Accounts to help buy down Scouting Related out-of-pocket expenses for Scouts.   By fundraising, the Scouts are able to self-fund most of their Scouting adventures.

We have a strong core group of adult leaders within our troop.  Many of which have grown up within the Scouting organization.  If you are interested in becoming an adult leader or just helping out at a certain event, we'd welcome your help.
